How do experts rate different violence prevention programs? "Safe Schools, Safe Students: A Guide to Violence Prevention Strategies" answers this question by grading 84 nationally available violence prevention programs.
Fifteen violence prevention experts identified nine necessary aspects of prevention and used them to evaluate the programs. They issued grades of C or D to 49 programs. Only 10 received an A. The report also exposed the ineffective strategies that were common among the low-scoring prevention programs.
The report is available for $12.95 plus shipping and handling from Drug Strategies, 2445 M St., N.W., Suite 480, Washington, D.C. 20037.
