Less Filling, Same Pay - school board of education; Columbus, Ohio - Brief Article
School Administrator, Oct, 2000
Just minutes after being sworn in as a member of the Columbus, Ohio, board of education, Stephanie High-tower successfully worked her first initiative through her new colleagues. At her suggestion, the board reduced its number of scheduled meetings each month from three to two.
At $80 for each full board meeting they attend (up to 36 meetings a year), you might figure the board voted itself out of a hefty stipend for its hard policymaking. But with unscheduled meetings, they do not expect to lose much, if any, pay.
