An educator who started her career as a paraprofessional before moving into the superintendency is the new executive director of the 54,000-member Professional Association of Georgia Educators. Allene Magill spent the past two years as superintendent in Dalton, Ga., after serving for 13 years in the superintendencies of Paulding County and Forsyth County, both in Georgia.
She twice received the state superintendent of the year award. Magill started as a Paraprofessional in her home state of Mississippi in 1976.
