Modern Skate and Surf opened In 1980 and has now grown to five stores and two indoor skate parks. We've had all the pros come through, from the Bones Brigade in the early '80s to Toy Machine and Foundation in the new millennium. Our shop has been selling snowboards since 1982, wakeboards since 1985, and we even sell surfboards to surf the fresh water of the Great Lakes. I now have parents in their 30s coming into my shop and saying that skateboarding was a rewarding experience for them when they were younger, and they now want their kids to skate. The decades pass, but the premise remains the same: Respect your customers.
