Poet's corner - On Board - Poem

Thrasher Magazine, May, 2002 by Jake Snyder

Skatin' (Old School)

I treat skating like living,

busting mad tricks,

looking cool

in front of the chicks.

Ollie down stairs, bust 180 kickflips,

Boneless, pop shove-it, power slide this?

Chillin' on a corner on a hot summer's day

all we do is skate and play.

When there is nothing to do

and you're going outside

go grab your board and enjoy the ride.

Box, ramp, rails, stairs

no matter the environment who cares?

When you skate in the ghetto use what you see,

curbs, posts, even a tree.

Just a word of advice don't skate in a cave

please, stick to the concrete wave.
