… In a coin store

New American, The, Jan 8, 2007 by Kurt Williamsen

At about 10:30 a.m., a man carrying a black bag entered a coin and comics shop in Roselle, Illinois. The man spoke cordially to shop owner Glen Soustek for several minutes. Then he pulled a "handgun out of the bag and jumped over the counter," reported the Chicago Sun-Times.

The robber, Geoffrey Webb, threatened Soustek, and so Soustek grabbed his own pistol, kicking off a gunfight. Both men were hit by bullets, but Soustek was the one still on his feet when the shooting stopped.

Soustek exited the store to get help at a restaurant next door. "Despite his bleeding wound, he calmly asked a restaurant worker to call police." When police arrived on the scene, they found Webb dead in the store, gun still in his hand, and videotaped proof that Soustek was completely justified in shooting Webb.

Webb was a felon on parole for bank robbery. Soustek was treated for a wound to his arm from the November 3 robbery attempt and released.
