Ronnie talks the talk - Hard Times - Ronnie Coleman, bodybuilder champ - Interview

Flex, Feb, 2002 by Steve Stiefel

Here's what RONNIE COLEMAN had to say onstage, just after accepting his fourth straight Sandow trophy. "You've got to keep your faith in God. Every time something good happens. Every time something bad happens. I know this show was close. It could have gone either way. But God put me here. I'm here, and I'm representing Jesus Christ, my Lord and my Savior. I thank him for making me victorious again. I've been here four years in a row. I'm just a normal guy. And I'll be back, stronger and better next year. With the Lord and Savior on my side.

"I'll be at the banquet after this. I'll be the last one to leave the banquet. I'll be taking photographs, signing photographs, until I'm the last one out of there. Without y'all, I wouldn't be here. I love y'all.

"I'm trying to do my best to make this sport a better sport. I want to do what I can to get y'all to work out and be a better person for yourself. Working out is good. Being healthy is good. Eating good is good. It's the best part. I try to be as healthful as I possibly can.

"I try to answer all my e-mail, but I can't return it all. If you get an answer back from Ronnie Coleman, it's from me. Nobody else answers my e-mail. I do everything on a person-to-person basis. I'm no better than anybody else. I'm a God-fearing individual. I've got red blood just like everybody else got. Two arms and two legs, Mine's just a bit bigger. We're all one people. United we stand, divided we fall. In God we trust. God bless America."
