L-train is on track: Lionel Brown plans an express route to the pro ranks

Flex, August, 2004 by Greg Merritt

And always there is the burning desire to follow those personalities into the limelight. Training each day with Richard "Magic" Jones, several years his junior, L-Train is in a hurry not just to join Jones in the pros, but to make a mark as a professional. "I'm not focused on strength training anymore," he states. "It's all about being a complete bodybuilder, having a good physique with good aesthetics. I want to do a little more refining of the package, add a little more detail. When Richard tells me things, I don't write them down, but I remember them. He was looking at a videotape of me posing, and he said, 'If you just had a little more detail in the lower back.' So let's do those deadlifts, and let's do those hyperextensions. Then I need a little more sweep in my thighs, so I know what I've got to do. Whatever it takes, I'm going to do it. This is my year."

L-Train is on track. Expect him to reach his destination soon, but don't expect him to slow down.

RELATED ARTICLE: WHAT'S IN A NICKNAME?

Lionel "L-Train" Brown's nickname was coined several years ago by friend Chuckie Miller. The moniker has multiple meanings, as it alludes to his workouts, his personal-training business and an "el" (elevated) rail line. However, it was primarily inspired by Lionel trains, the legendary model railroad cars and locomotives.
