Will Harris: heavyweight winner of the 2004 NPC USA Will Harris tells us where's he's been and where he's going

Flex, Oct, 2004 by Steve Stiefel

FIVE YEARS AGO

I had left the sport, and I really wasn't thinking about bodybuilding. I was married from 1996 to 2000, and it took me out of Los Angeles and made me quite unhappy.

TODAY

I went to the 2003 USA as a spectator and to plan my bodybuilding strategy. Then, I worked with a lot of good people, including pros TOM PRINCE and BOB CICHERILLO. All these guys were instrumental in my success at the 2004 USA. [Harris not only won the heavyweight division, but he also was awarded a pro card.]

Today, my life is not complicated. My idea of socializing is to go out for coffee and a movie with friends. Growing up in the streets, you learn to weed out the bad influences in your life.

I was living in the Sacramento area, working as a personal trainer. I came back to bodybuilding in 2001 and placed third in the North American Championships, then I placed 10th at the USA in 2002. I was disappointed with that, and I had to reflect on what to do.

FIVE YEARS FROM NOW

I plan to still be happy as hell. I'm looking to take the Mr. O title--there's no reason to think I wouldn't be a very solid Mr. Olympia. I'm just starting to hit my peak. And the Washington Redskins will have won another Super Bowl by then.
