Important OTC information - Extra Health - Brief Article

Muscle & Fitness/Hers, Feb-March, 2002

Just because you're pretty healthy doesn't mean your family and friends are, too.

If someone you know uses a lot of over-the-counter drugs for various ailments, take a minute to warn them about potentially dangerous interactions with foods and other medications. Antacids taken with some antibiotics, for example, can cancel out the effects of both drugs, and mixing a sedative with some allergy medications can slow your ability to react. You can view the Council on Family Health brochure "Drug Interactions: What You Should Know," online at www.cfhinfo.org, or get it free by writing to the Federal Consumer Information Center, Pueblo, CO 80019, and asking for item #600G.
