Role models

Muscle & Fitness/Hers, March, 2004 by Giselle, Karen Thompson

I'd like to compliment you on the models you choose for this magazine. They're all very lean, muscular and motivating, not stick-thin with bones sticking out. I was disappointed to read the letter from Miava Nelson in your Dec./Jan. 2004 issue ["Reactions"]. I feel your models are perfect and I wouldn't read your magazine if you had out-of-shape women modeling. Part of my motivation to work out comes from seeing these women in such great shape. Seeing women with an unhealthy body fat percentage wouldn't be encouraging to me.

Since I picked up my first M & F HERS, I've been hooked. I'm 41 years old and over the past year and half, I've lost more than 60 pounds. While your magazine wasn't the only inspiration, it did play a big part in my success. I enjoy the articles on different workout routines, but more importantly, I enjoy the support that I get when I read your magazine. It's very inspiring to see women my age in shape and looking good. Your magazine has been wonderful in giving me new ideas so that my workouts don't become boring. Thanks to M & F HERS, I'm in better shape than I was at age 25. I went from walking a mile or two to running up to five miles. I look forward to every issue.
