Topic: finding jeans that fit

I'm having a crisis. None of the brands of jeans that I have normally worn and liked to wear are fitting (and not because I have gained a lot of fat--the pants I already have in those sizes are fine). See, I have a tiny waist and big ol' hips. Express and now my beloved Old Navy aren't working out 'cause I guess they are changing the cut of their jeans. Any suggestions? I have heard J.Lo jeans will solve this dilemma. Does anyone have those and what is the sizing like for them (since I'll have to buy them online)?

THANKS ladies! I work at a casual place and love to wear cute jeans to work.

J.Lo jeans have something funny about them ... I bought two pairs online, both in size 11 (I'm 10/11, so I decided to be on the safer, e.g., larger side). One fits more like 12/13 (it was too big), and the other one is more like size 9 or 9/10 (it was--and still is--too small). I thought it was ridiculous, since it's the same brand. But they do solve the curvy problem. I think it's a good idea to buy them on eBay--saves a lot of money, and they have a lot of jeans with tags still on for 1/3 of the original price. I believe Lee's and Levi's are good for curvy girls, too.

Yeah, I don't LOVE Old Navy jeans because they've been the capris for a while and then there's the regular, low-waist and lower. It's annoying because I only wear jeans to work now and I don't want to wear something I have to keep pulling up! I tried on the size 10 flares and they actually looked good--they aren't low-waisted but more normal, so I don't have to worry about pulling them up all the time!

J.Crew and Abercrombie & Fitch for me! If you go on their websites, you can get them on sale for pretty cheap (about 30 bucks a pair). Also, I am in love with Hollister brand. This is a division of Abercrombie and I love their jeans!!!! I am a tiny-waisted, big-hipped gal, too, and I have the same problem!

I'm with ya! Jeans shopping can be a night-mare! I have a small waist and a big butt and I love Tommy jeans and Aeropostale (the stretchy ones).

I just had to share this. I RARELY have a good jeans day. I hate shopping for jeans because I have a small waist and big butt, so they always do that thing where the waist is too loose. Finally, it occurred to me to buy stretch jeans:-) So, after a really hard workout this morning, I got ready for work and put on a slinky top and my low-waist jeans. And here's the great part: I didn't have to suck my tummy in to zip them up, and there are no bulges over the waistband in the back. And the legs are actually loose! Wow, this is soooo cool :-) I can't wait to get into some of my old jeans that have been collecting dust for a couple of years. Ladies, thanks again for helping me set and reach my goals!

WOW! That's great. Keep feeling wonderful about yourself--you work hard for it!!! Nothing like a good jeans day :)

Sandra--GREAT JOB! I have jeans I haven't fit into in a while--I need to lose about five more pounds to get into them. I can't wait!

I get that baggy waist thing too, and I've found that stretch jeans are heaps better.

Don't you just hate that thing?! Ugh, it drives me nuts! And before I lost my weight and inches recently, it wasn't as much of a problem. I guess I was better proportioned when I was a bit bigger, because my size 12 jeans just did it a teensy bit. One brand of jeans I've found that does it less (still a little, but not as noticeable as others) are the London jeans from Victoria's Secret. I just tried on two pairs this weekend that I couldn't get over my hips a few months ago, and not only could I do that, I could even zip them without sucking in! They're still a bit snug to sit in all day, but just getting them on is great.
