Coil-feeding for exhaust parts - WIP - Faurecia Exhaust Systems uses Coe Press Equipment in production process - Brief Article

Automotive Design & Production, Oct, 2002

The last thing that the engineers at Faurecia Exhaust Systems' Franklin, Ohio, plant want to deal with is jammed coil material used in its exhaust system, muffler or catalytic converter forming lines. So, they opted to install reliable, integrated coil-feeding lines from Coe Press Equipment (Sterling Heights, MI). There are three lines in all: two that were modified by Coe to handle 36-in wide material that's fed into progress-die stamping operations; one that can handle 42-in, wide material that's formed in a straight-side press. Coe also supplied a telescopic exit conveyor and single-station drop stacker which allows the line run while it simultaneously provides pallet storage and removes the finished stacks--further enhancing productivity.

The coil-feeding system can also rewind the perforated coil stock that Faurecia uses for the internal baffles that go in its exhaust systems and mufflers. It does this by moving the material through the stacker frame to an in-line tension stand and double-ended rewind reel.
