To further underline the "fun" quotient, VW inaugurated an 8-race series, the Jetta TDI Cup for 30 amateur races. According to Clark Campbell, who heads up VW of America's Motorsports activities, the vehicles are 70% stock Jettas. Ten percent of the remaining parts come from the VW Group's "part's bin"--like R32 gears in the DSG transmission and GTI steering wheel-10% are sourced from the aftermarket--like Recaro seats and Sachs dampers-and the remaining are hand-made by Volkswagen Motorsport--including suspension, transmission and motor mounts.
