Flexible injection molding machines - In Gear - Machine uses AC servo motor - Brief Article

Automotive Design & Production, Dec, 2002

Who: Van Dorn Demag Corporation (Strongville, OH)

What: IntElect Series Models 50 and 80 injection molding machines

Why you should care: These machines offer built-in modularity so that the customer can configure each machine by choosing different injection front end units.

Pertinent Data: The clamp is a five-point toggle design that allows for more even distribution of pressure across the platen and reduced platen deflection. A box-style moving platen provides better guidance because of more contact on the tie bars. An AC servo motor runs the clamp and eliminates tensioners resulting in less belt wear. The IntElect series also features anti-friction roller bearings that support the moving platen and to provide mold weight support and facilitate mold alignment.
