5-axis laser

Automotive Design & Production,  Jan, 2003

Who: Mitsubishi Laser (Wood Dale, IL)

What: VZ2 5-axis laser

Why you should care: Mitsubishi has increased the stroke and mounting weight on the VZ2 over its predecessor the VZ1, so larger workpieces can be accommodated. Software has also been upgraded to allow for both 2D-to-3D and 3D-to-2D program conversion. Also, a new offset head facilitates tall and deep-formed workpieces.

Pertinent Data: The non-electrostatic head eliminates the interference range and features heightened damage reduction mechanisms, using both spring recovery and shear pin methods to absorb impact. The LC20T control can convert from offset to zero-offset and has 2-point-to-3-point arc conversion. More Info: www.mitsubishi-world.com
