The Perseus Books Group is to acquire Running Press.
Running Press is known for publishing novelty and impulse-buy titles far removed from Perseus' usual non-fiction output. The terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed.
Jack McKeown, chief executive of Perseus, expects the acquisition to increase revenue by over 50%, which would make Perseus one of the largest independently owned publishers according to the New York Times.

Running Press is most well-known for releasing books sold with accessories such as a children's dinosaur book that allows the reader to excavate a plastic bone from a block of clay. The company has also released compressed editions of existing works and miniature editions of the 'For Dummies' book series.
