Adult hardcover and trade paperback sales increased in November 2003, according to estimates from the Association of American Publishers (AAP).

The rise, 11.8% and 14.8% respectively, is in line with what booksellers have been calling a good month for business and pushes both categories to within just over 2% of breaking even for the year to date.

Children's sales dropped in both segments however, with hardcover sales off 12.3% and paperbacks 28.1%. Over the course of the first 11 months of 2003 sales were up in nine of the 13 segments tracked by AAP, reports Publishers Weekly.
