M2 BEST BOOKS-(C)2000-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
UK-based publishing group Pearson Plc has reported a pre-tax profit of GBP48m for the first half of 2005, up from a loss of GBP33m in the same period a year ago.
The group's Pearson Education division saw sales rise 14% in January-June this year, with Higher Education up 5%, Professional up 12% and School up 19%.
The Penguin book publishing business was said to have made a "solid start" to 2005, and was showing good growth in the UK.
