Children's publisher Scholastic Inc has announced that it is to launch a new educational website called BookFlix.

The website reportedly pairs short films based on picture books along with non-fiction e-books that will enable early readers to follow the text online.

According to the Canadian Press, the Disney Publishing Group has also announced plans for a similar project later this year, in which texts such as The Jungle Book and Cinderella will be available online.

The e-books offered by Scholastic will be available to the school and library market, while Disney will offer its e-books to general consumers for a fee.
