Orange Prize for Fiction renamed

M2 Best Books, March 1, 2007

M2 BEST BOOKS-(C)2000-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

The Orange Prize for Fiction has been renamed the Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction with immediate effect.

Telecomms operator Orange, part of the France Telecom Group, said the new title of the literary prize reflected the development of Orange's business following the introduction of the Orange home broadband service in 2006.

The Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction is awarded for the best novel of the year written by a woman. It is open to any woman writing in English, regardless of her nationality, country of residence, age or subject matter. Orange has sponsored the prize since its launch in 1996.

The longlist for this year's prize will be announced on 19 March, with the shortlist published on 17 April. The winner will be named at the awards ceremony on 6 June.
