Under the terms of the agreement Borders will expand the sale of the Reader, a reading device for e-books, to over 500 of its stores throughout the US, beginning in October.

The Reader is currently sold in approximately 270 Borders stores, which began selling the device in 2006.

In addition Borders will launch a co-branded online store with support from Sony that will provide digital downloads of e-books, offering customers a selection of titles.
