A film version is to be produced of Paul Coelho's novel The Alchemist.
Coelho's novel has been published in 67 languages and sold in excess of 30 million copies around the world.
The role of the alchemist is to be played by Laurence Fishburne, who will also direct and write the production.
According to The Telegraph, the film is to be made by Harvey Weinstein, who has revealed that he hopes to cast Penelope Cruz for a role.
