M2 BEST BOOKS-(C)2000-2009 M2 COMMUNICATIONS

Social networking site Scribd has reached an agreement with Simon & Schuster, whereby the publisher's e-books will be sold through the Scribd Store, which was launched in May this year to complement Scribd's file-sharing platform.

The Scribd Store will feature the Simon & Schuster storefront, http://www.scribd.com/Simon&Schuster, with almost 5,000 Simon & Schuster e-book titles available for purchase in Adobe's PDF and ePub formats and readable on http://www.Scribd.com.

The list of titles will include bestsellers by writers such as Stephen King, Dan Brown, Mary Higgins Clark and Steve Martin. Printed titles will also be available for preview, with links provided for readers to purchase from the Simon & Schuster website as well as other retailers.

In addition, all titles are added to Scribd's Copyright Management System, which prevents the upload of unauthorised written works.

Reportedly, pricing is flexible and will be set by the publisher.
