NAPA awards apartment complexes - Municipal Recycling - City of Napa awards apartment recycling systems - Brief Article

Recycling Today, Jan, 2002

The City of Napa, Calif., has awarded two apartment complex owners for their impressive recycling rates with credits toward garbage collection costs.

The Woodland Apartments and the Mayacamas Village complex in Napa were credited with $1,000 and $1,500 respectively by the City of Napa and Napa Garbage Service.

The awards program in Napa targets all apartment complexes larger than 10 units that have centralized solid waste and recycling collection areas. In the most recent competition--awards are given quarterly--57 apartment complexes competed, with 15 of those starting a recycling program in order to enter the contest.

Increased recycling at Mayacamas Village has lowered the complex's monthly garbage bill by $370 due to the elimination of three weekly solid waste stops.
