Delaware offers recycling assistance grants
Recycling Today, Jan, 2005
The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), in cooperation with the Governor's Recycling Public Advisory Council (RPAC), is accepting applications for the fiscal year 2005 Recycling Assistance Grant Program.
Municipalities, schools, colleges, universities, civic and community associations and non-profit organizations in Delaware can apply for the $50,000 available in grants. Recipients are required to provide 25 percent of total project funding either in cash or in an equivalent valuation of in-kind services. Cooperative partnerships are encouraged.
Related Results
Activities eligible for funding include: design, implementation or expansion of residential recycling and yard waste composting programs; curbside collection of recyclables; design and implementation of "pay-as-you-throw" programs; recycling outreach programs; and other activities that reduce residential solid waste generation and disposal or that help to achieve Delaware's goal to divert 30 percent of recyclables from the residential solid waste stream. Greater weight will be assigned to those projects that are most responsive in addressing grant program criteria and that are judged to have the greatest potential to increase diversion of residential solid waste from landfills.
DNREC staff will provide technical and administrative assistance to interested parties.
Application packets and general information regarding the grant program are available through Janet Manchester at (302) 739-3689 or at Janet.Manchester@state.de.us.
Completed applications are due Jan. 31. The DNREC will announce grant award recipients in February.
