Alter Trading Corp - People - Brief Article

Robert Stein, a veteran of the scrap metal industry, has joined Alter Trading Corp. He was previously with Louis Padnos Iron & Metal Co., Holland, Mich.

Stein will become vice president of nonferrous marketing for St. Louis-based Alter Trading. He also will be responsible for the company's expansion in domestic and international sales and trading.

Stein is also the senior vice president of the Nonferrous Division of the Bureau of International Recycling, as well as the chair of BIR's Internet subcommittee. He sits on the New York Mercantile Exchange/COMEX division's Nonferrous Advisory Board.

Stein will continue to maintain offices in Grand Rapids, Mich., as well as in St. Louis. Alter Trading is one of the largest privately held scrap companies in the U.S. It operates 16 scrap yards throughout the Midwest.
