Steinert ISS system installed - Equipment Report - at Davis Industries - Brief Article
Recycling Today, April, 2003
Texas Shredder Inc. (TSI), San Antonio, Texas, in cooperation with Resource Recycling LLC, has sold a third-generation Steinert Induction Sorting System (ISS) unit to scrap recycler Davis Industries of Lorton, Va.
The ISS is designed to recover nonferrous materials and stainless steel from a mixed stream passing through an eddy current system. Specially designed sensors recognize the metals and activate air jets that "pop" the metals from the mixed stream.
The ISS unit will eliminate the need for manual picking and increase the nonferrous metals recovered, according to a TSI news release.
The ISS adds to Davis Industires' processing equipment, which includes a 80/104 TSI dual discharge shredding system, an Alstom 3000 hp 500 rpm shredder duty motor, a Harris HRB baler, a 1,700-ton Vezanni shear and a Steinert eddy current system.
