"We can all contribute to a healthier world"
Vegetarian Baby and Child, March-April, 2003 by N. Glenn Perrett
With more than 6 billion people in the world, even small, seemingly insignificant, acts can have huge positive impact if enough people incorporate them into their lives. A good example involves reducing our use of disposable items. Recently I tried a hemp coffee filter from Ecowise made of 55% hemp and 45% cotton, and I was quite impressed.
This easy-to-use (and clean) filter will help the environment as less paper and bleach will be used to make those white, disposable coffee filters. I've made approximately 70 pots of coffee with this filter, and I've successfully cleaned the filter twice using the directions on the package. It suggests soaking the filter in a solution of 2 cups of boiling water and 1 tablespoon of baking soda to clean and "refresh" it. The filter looks as good now as it did the first time I used it. Coffee filters are available in three sizes: #2, #4 and basket. Coffee drinkers will be delighted with this long lasting, inexpensive, reusable coffee filter--especially if they care about the environment! www.ecowiseproducts.com
