Media viewed skeptically
VFW Magazine, Oct, 2003
Some 70% of Americans want news media outlets to embrace "a decidedly 'pro-American' viewpoint," according to a recent Pew Research Center for the People and the Press poll. But only about half of those surveyed believe the media currently stands up for America.
Some two-thirds (64%) prefer "neutral" coverage of war and terrorism (although it was not clear what was meant by "neutral"). And 43% of the public said media criticism of the military weakens the nation's defenses.
