Air force museum aircraft correctly identified
VFW Magazine, Oct, 2004
Editor's Note: As 50 of our readers pointed out, the aircraft on page 26 ("Where Eagles Rest," August issue) was certainly not a Navy Hellcat. It was originally known as an NA-57, later designated a BT-9 (a basic trainer). The scene portrays what could happen to a cadet pilot when taxiing with the wind from behind and applying the brakes too hard.
The wind would lift the tail and the nose would hit the ground.
