Never too late to pay a debt

VFW Magazine, Jan, 2004 by Mark J. Landis

"Repaying the Debt" (November) by Kenneth Lee offered excellent insight into the reluctance of many young Americans to place public service above self-interest. Unfortunately, the pursuit of self-interest is not limited to Generation X; it holds true for Baby Boomers, too.

While eloquently admitting his guilt to exonerate himself and ease his conscience, Mr. Lee implies it is too late to serve his country. At 28, however, he no doubt would be most welcome in the Judge Advocate Corps.
