Diabetes awareness a worthy cause

Re: Cover story on diabetes (March). In selecting diabetes research and treatment as a worthy cause to which to lend VFW assistance, VFW could not have made a better choice. As a diabetic, I know I express the appreciation of thousands of other diabetic vets when I say thank you.

Just a few pointers on diabetes treatment: The finger stick should be on the side of the finger. And while oral medication is taken, insulin can only be given by injection. Stomach acids would destroy insulin before it could be utilized.
