The founder of Domino's Pizza wants there to be more to his legacy than just being the man who guaranteed speedy pizza delivery to college students - In The News
University Business, Feb, 2003 by Jean Marie Angelo
The founder of Domino's Pizza wants there to be more to his legacy than just being the man who guaranteed speedy pizza delivery to college students. Tom Monaghan wants to start a new university--and build a college town to house it--in southwest Florida. Known for his support of conservative and Roman Catholic causes, he plans to complete Ave Maria University by 2006.
Monaghan says his interest in campus life grew of having so many pizza delivery franchises in college towns. His hope is to teach Catholic values to young people. Monaghan already has some higher ed experience: In 1998 he sold the Domino's Pizza corporation and founded Ave Maria College in Ypsilantia, MI, that same year.
