Hugh Morris Gloster, former president of the historically black Morehouse College, died on February 16 at 90, in Decatur, GA. Gloster was the school's seventh president, and the first graduate to lead the school. He served from 1967 to 1986, and will be remembered for, among other notable contributions, strengthening the college's endowment and faculty during the civil rights era.

Gloster authored Negro Voices in American Fiction (1948) and My Life, My Country, My World (1952), a standard anthology in college Literature courses.
