Rutgers University - In The News

University Business, April, 2002 by Jean Marie Angelo

> Meantime, Francis Lawrence's run as a "survivor" is over. The embattled president of Rutgers University (NJ)--who, in 12 years at the post, has carried on through charges that he was a racist; student demonstrations; and calls for his resignation--announced in February that he would step down. State political wags were expecting a contentious relationship to develop between Lawrence and New Jersey's new governor, James McGreevey-Lawrence will stay at his post until Rutgers finds a replacement.
