Founded by faculty of Indiana University, Courseshare offers research, assessment, consulting, training, and tool development services for online learning. Courseshare aims to provide an online forum through which faculty can share pedagogical tools, content, and other e-learning associated information. The company also designs, tests, evaluates, and licenses new e-learning tools. Products (some not yet released) include online surveys, electronic portfolios, personal profiles, case-based learning systems, information sharing tools, and electronic discussion forums.

The template-based system is designed for easy use by faculty; it includes communications tools, test capability with instant feedback, gradebook, and extensive assessment features. CyberU is an aggregator and distributor of courses in the liberal arts, sciences, and professional fields created by colleges, universities, and for-profit educational companies. The company's current catalog includes 30,000 courses, 90 percent of which are from colleges or universities. CyberU acts as a clearinghouse for online courses, and provides hosting, registration, and tuition collection. The company's emphasis is on the corporate market, but it continues to market directly to consumers.
