Virginia pol: no to illegals: lawmaker's bill would ban undocumented students - Update

If John Reid gets his way, illegal immigrants will be barred from attending public universities in Virginia, and those who are enrolled with be expelled. The bill proposed by the Republican delegate from Richmond was passed by a State House of Representatives committee in early February, and will now work its way through the congress.

If signed into law by the governor, the plan will go into effect July 1. Reid said many students from his district plan to attend state universities, and "I just don't want illegal immigrants taking their seats away from them." Showing he means business, Reid warned, "If [the bill] is vetoed by the governor, I will work to overturn that veto."
