Making students better citizens: Institute promotes civic responsibility as key outcome of higher education - Update

Journey Towards Democracy: Power, Voice, and the Public Good. That is the theme of the Institute for Liberal Education, which the Association of American Colleges and Universities and Campus Compact have recently agreed to establish. The Charles Engelhard and Christian A. Johnson Endeavor Foundations will initially fund the effort to make the Institute a resource to strengthen understanding of civic engagement and to make it more central to faculty work and student learning in higher education.

These goals will be promoted through sponsored research, seminars for collaborating scholars, community and institutional conferences, and publications. For more information, visit www.aacu.org.
