In what is viewed as a victory for public employees, an appeals court ruled this spring that the personal job-performance goats of the former president of Palomar College (Calif.) can be shielded from public scrutiny. A professor had requested that the personal performance goats stated by former President Sherrill Amador be open to the public.

Rocco Versaci, an English professor and president of the community college district's faculty union, argued that this part of Amador's personnel file should be open to the public, given that the community college is a public system. The justices ruled that disclosing this part of the personnel file would be a violation of privacy rights. The 2.5-year tenure of the community college president was a reportedly a rancorous one.
