New online resource on global student mobility
University Business, June, 2005
The New York-based Institute of International Education has launched Project Atlas, a new online resource to track enrollment data on the millions of international students pursuing higher education outside their home countries in leading host countries. IIE's "Open Doors" report on international enrollments in the U.S., and other recent surveys of foreign student applications, have documented declining numbers coming to the U.S.
from abroad, while the numbers of students heading to other host countries are dramatically expanding. With support from the Ford Foundation, IIE's new web-based resource provides the latest data from leading host countries, supplemented by other key data on economic and social development.
