Community College of Allegheny County - Appointed and Promoted
University Business, August, 2003 by Jean Marie Angelo
What could be a better boon to fundraising than having a banker for a president? That might have been what the trustees of Community College of Allegheny County (PA) were thinking when they appointed Stewart Sutin as president. Sutin is leaving his senior VP post at Mellon Financial Corp. to become president of the college.
He was the only job finalist who didn't come from academia, although he has been a part time lecturer at a number of schools, including the U of Pittsburgh's Katz School of Business. His reported minimum annual salary will be $165,000.
