YMCA opens academy

TORONTO -- The YMCA Academy has been launched as an independent high school for youths who have been "disengaged from institutional learning, or who are at risk of doing so". The academy is sponsored by the YMCA of Greater Toronto.

The school will offer small classes and tutorial support, workplace internships and mentors, and current technological support for 150 students, Grades 9 through 12 by 2008. Support for the program comes from corporate donors. 416-413-1020 x2369
