Health centre opens in Gimli

GIMLI, MB -- Gimli Community Health Centre, a new facility that will provide access to care for residents of Gimli and the surrounding region, was officially opened by Premier Gary Doer.

The Centre is part of the Interlake Regional Health Authority.

The $13 million construction and renovation project includes:

* 14 acute, four special and two palliative care beds;

* a separate entrance and dedicated space for emergency arrivals and treatment;

* added space for community service programs, mental health services, family services and seniors resource services; and

* redevelopment and expansion in treatment, diagnostic and rehabilitation services;

Community and provincial funds support the project.
