Charges against London psychiatrist dismissed on technical grounds - Reports For Romanow - Brief Article

Community Action, August 19, 2002

LONDON -- A charge laid against a London psychiatrist was dismissed on technical grounds, due to a failure in the information laid.

The charge alleged that the psychiatrist breached the legal requirements of the Ontario Mental Health Act when she failed to examine a patient prior to continuing the patient's status as an involuntary patient. The doctor allegedly failed to even meet the patient before she issued a certificate that could have resulted in the patient being detained in hospital for an additional month.
