Ontario team to cut wait time

TORONTO -- The Ontario government plans to reduce wait times and bring health services closer to communities.

To coordinate and implement changes to the system, health and long-term care minister George Smitherman announced the creation of a new "health results team." Hugh MacLeod, an associate deputy minister, will serve as the team's executive lead.

The team includes: Dr. Alan Hudson, president and CEO of Cancer Care Ontario; Dr. Jim MacLean, president and CEO of Markham Stouffville Hospital; Gall Paech, former assistant deputy minister, long-term care redevelopment project; Adalsteinn Brown, professor in the University of Toronto's department of health policy; Public Affairs professional Gloria Bishop; former Toronto Mayor Barbara Hall.
