Man. treats more crack cocaine

Community Action, Sept 20, 2004

WINNIPEG -- An increasing number of crack cocaine addists are being treated by the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba

The Foundation reports that in 1999, 35 per cent of people the foundation treated reported they used cocaine or crack cocaine. Three years later, the number jumped to 45 per cent, according to figures released yesterday by the leader of the opposition Tories in the legislature.

Conservative Leader Stuart Murray says the NDP government should reverse its recent decision to cut funding to the treatment centre given the high numbers.
