Outreach Society, Mission, B.C.: For Safe Online to provide professionals from social service organizations with training and tools to assess their organization's capacity to deal with online crimes against the clients they serve. The project, Responding to Online Sexual Exploitation: Organizational Assessments and Train the Trainer will help assess organizational knowledge; increase awareness about the extent of the problem; and support actions to assist youth who may find themselves in danger as a result of online activity. Dallas Society, Victoria: To aid individuals affected by Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder who are at risk of coming in contact with the criminal justice system. The Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Circle: Community Capacity Building on Southern Vancouver Island project will conduct a needs assessment, as well as diagnosis and service needs, of persons with FASD and their caregivers, the Society will develop a strategy for the region, including enhancing the police-based response to FASD. The John Howard Society, Thompson Region. For its New Prospects project in Kamloops. This pilot project aims to create a volunteer network assisting in the community reintegration of mentally disordered offenders. Potential benefits include cost savings with the more appropriate use of correctional services for individuals who represent real threats to community safety. A manual for the volunteer training will be developed and made available to other communities. (250) 374-3844 $50,000
