Alta. moves daily aids program

Community Action, March 21, 2005

EDMONTON -- Responsibility for the Alberta Aids to Daily Living program will be transferred to Alberta Seniors and Community Supports, from Alberta Health and Wellness Program. The program will continue as usual and clients will continue to receive the same benefits in the same way.

The transfer brings the aids to daily living under one roof with other services for the aged and people with disabilities.

The Alberta Aids to Daily Living program assists approximately 75,000 Albertans in five benefit areas: hearing and communication; medical/surgical supplies; mobility and equipment; prosthetics, orthotics, footwear and seating; and respiratory. The program's 2004-05 budget is approximately $80 million. Communications Director Alberta Seniors and Community Supports.
