Child-friendly areas for refugee camps - Child & Family - UNICEF decision - Brief Article

Community Action, March 18, 2002

NEW YORK -- UNICEF announced it will establish "child-friendly spaces" in newly established camps for internally displaced persons in Liberia, in order to help restore a degree of normalcy for children in the camps and protect them against being drawn into the country's conflict.

The child-friendly spaces will provide a safe haven where women can care for their infants and children can learn essential life skills.
